TCD offers dance, fitness and welbeing sessions for different groups throughout the week.

There is no charge for participation. The minimum age is 11.

Have Fun at Sensory World

Sensory World is a place where disabled people can socialise and have fun. The cafe is open between 9:00am-2:30pm. The home-cooked food is fantastic. Menus are available in print and braille. There is also the Sensory Room, designed for autistic children.

A range of activities are available to adults and children. These can include crafts, gaming, lego and karaoke.

Disabled Adults

Disabled adults can socialise at the luncheon club on Thursdays between 11:00am-2:00pm. Lunch costs £4.50. Sunday lunch Club is on Sundays from 12:00-2:00pm. Sunday lunch costs £6.50.

Disabled Children

Children can play in a disability-friendly environment while their parents relax. There are various play sessions. These may include sessions aimed at children with autism and sessions aimed at children with complex needs.
Aditional activities may be provided during school holidays.

Almondbury Disabled Leisure Group

Almondbury Disabled Leisure Group provides opportunities for disabled adults from Almondbury to socialise and play games. Weekly social sessions take place on Tuesdays from 1:30-4:00 pm. The group also goes on occasional day trips.

Sessions cost £1 +50p for refreshments. There may be additional charges for some activities.

Kirklees Sports Association for the Disabled

The Kirklees Sports Association for the Disabled provides a range of activities for disabled people, on Monday evenings at Huddersfield Leisure Centre.

People can play dominoes and board games between 7:00-8:00. Swimming is available between 8:00-9:00.

The cost is £2 per week.

Kirkheaton Chair Exercise Group

Kirkheaton Chair Exercise Group provides chair exercise sessions. There are two groups for physically disabled adults, and other disabled adults who do not feel comfortable going to gyms.

One group meets on Mondays between 10:00-11:30am, and the other group meets on Wednesdays between 2:00-3:30 pm. These are separate groups due to popular demand. At times there may only be space for new participants in one of the groups

Sessions cost £3 per participant. The cost includes refreshments.

Motorists may experience parking difficulties. There are accessible toilets. People who have care needs should bring their own carers.

North Kirklees Special Gymnastics Club

North Kirklees Special Gymnastics Club provides gymnastics sessions for people who have learning disabilities, autism or moderate physical disabilities on Tuesdays.

Sessions take place at Batley Sports and Tennis Centre in Howden Clough on Tuesdays between 6:45-7:45pm. The cost is £4 per session.

Growing Works

Growing Works provides a range of outdoors activities and helps people develop skills which may be useful when gardening or camping. Activities may include bushcraft, nature craft, gardening and cooking. In addition to the sessions listed below, there are occasional additional sessions.

In Dewsbury, there are Spprout sessions for families of people with additional needs. The first session is free, then a £5 donation is requested per session.

Batley Sporting Foundation

Batley Sporting Foundation provides rugby league memories sessions. Aimed at rugby league fans with memory loss conditions, these sessions provide people with a chance to share and discuss memories of rugby league, and to socialise with other rugby league fans.

The sessions take place at Batley Library on Fridays between 10:00-11:30am.

Activities are free. Advanced booking is not required.

Deighton Table Tennis Club

Deighton Table Tennis Club provides table tennis sessions for disabled people over 8 years old, on Saturdays between 12:30-2:00 pm. There are other groups throughout the week.

Participants pay £4 per session if they are under 18, and £6 per session if they are adullts.

Experience the Countryside with Experience Community

Experience Community enables disabled people to ride and ramble around the countryside of Yorkshire and the surrounding area, using adapted bikes and wheelchairs. Charges vary.

There is also gardening on Tuesdays between 11:00am and 3:00pm at the Civic Centre,
New Street,
Slaithwaite.
